À propos de nous
Vergers du Monde began as a non-profit organization, created to bring farmers from different parts of the world together and to develop experimental gardens where practices, seeds and experiences could be shared.
Over the years, much of our work naturally began to revolve around something less visible: the intangible knowledge carried by farming communities, what is often described as Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). Whether in the Morvan countryside in France, in Tingsi in Tibet, or among farming communities in Afghanistan, we encountered knowledge shaped by generations of observation, adaptation and everyday work with the land. Much of it is still transmitted orally, and much of it is disappearing.
In 2025, this led to the creation of Vergers du Monde Press, an independent publishing house dedicated to documenting and sharing these forms of knowledge through practical field guides, illustrated books and limited collector editions.
How we work
Our books are co-written with the people who hold and study this knowledge: farmers, gardeners, researchers, craftspeople and local contributors. Over time, Vergers du Monde has built a network across different regions of the world, allowing each project to begin with people on the ground rather than with a subject seen from afar.
Each publication combines field research, conversations, testimonies, archival material and illustration, with one simple aim: to preserve knowledge while keeping the people who carry it at the heart of the story.
